Mixed-income tax preparation

Have a W-2 and a Side Hustle? We’ve Got Your Taxes Covered.

Full-time job. Freelance projects. Delivery apps. Multiple income streams. We help you bring the pieces together into one carefully prepared personal tax return.

Start with a free consultation. Your quote follows a review of your needs.

Understand your filing requirements, organize your records, and work directly with a real person who can explain what comes next.

Support that fits your life

One person. Multiple income streams.

A W-2 paycheck typically includes withholding. Independent work may require additional reporting, expense records, supplemental schedules, and self-employment tax calculations. We help you bring those pieces into a clear filing process.

W-2 employees with side hustles

Regular employment plus independent projects or business activities.

Freelancers and independent contractors

Services for clients, relevant 1099 forms, and other payment records.

Delivery and rideshare drivers

Earnings from platforms such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Uber. No platform partnership is implied.

Creative and online professionals

Independent work in content creation, photography, consulting, or design.

Multiple-platform gig workers

Income and fees across several platforms or independent activities, organized for your return.

Careful preparation. Clear explanations.

What we help you prepare.

Separate business entity returns, bookkeeping reconstruction, payroll filings, and specialized services may require separate arrangements or pricing. Not every LLC files a Schedule C; entity classification and circumstances determine the applicable return.

  • Form 1040 preparation and W-2 wage reporting
  • Freelance and contractor income review
  • Forms 1099-NEC and 1099-K reconciliation
  • Schedule C preparation when applicable
  • Business expense review
  • Self-employment tax calculations
  • Estimated tax payment review
  • Relevant credits and deductions
  • Return review and eligible electronic filing

Make sense of potential business expenses.

Good records help us review the costs associated with your work. These are categories to discuss, rather than a promise that an expense will be deductible.

Mileage & vehicle expenses

Qualifying business mileage or vehicle costs, supported by records and subject to applicable rules.

Supplies & equipment

Business-related purchases used for eligible work activities; treatment depends on the item and circumstances.

Software & subscriptions

Qualifying tools and subscriptions used in business operations.

Platform fees & commissions

Relevant service charges and processing costs documented in your platform statements.

Phone & internet

The eligible business-use portion supported by records, with personal use kept separate.

Other business costs

Documented ordinary and necessary expenses that meet applicable tax requirements.

Deduction eligibility depends on your facts, records, and current tax rules. Personal expenses are separate. Review the IRS guidance on business vehicle use and discuss your records with your preparer.

Clear pricing. No surprises.

Your Tax Situation Is Unique. Your Quote Should Be Too.

Personalized preparation quote

Employment and independent income sources, business activities, Schedule C requirements, record completeness, vehicle records, state filings, and additional preparation services affect the work required. A mixed-income return receives its own quote.

Federal preparation only. State preparation fees and additional-form or schedule charges are quoted separately. You approve the full price before preparation begins.

A client’s experience

W-2s, freelance work, and a clearer process.

George was so kind and helpful throughout our entire tax filing experience! My husband & I have a mix of W-2’s and freelance gig work. This hasn’t always been easy for us to figure out, but George was able to help us navigate everything with ease. It was great to have a virtual meeting option as well, so it was much easier to fit into our schedules. We truly appreciate his expertise and thoroughness with double-checking everything before filing as well. Thank you, George!

Questions before you book?

Can W-2 and 1099 income be filed together?

Yes. Employment and independent income can generally be reported on the same personal Form 1040, with additional schedules as required. We review the nature of each income source.

Do I need an LLC to report freelance income?

No. Freelance income can be earned as a sole proprietor without an LLC. If you have an entity, its tax classification and activities determine the applicable reporting.

What happens if I did not receive a 1099?

Taxable gig and freelance income generally must still be reported. Bring earnings summaries, invoices, payment records, and cash income information rather than relying only on 1099 forms.

Can delivery drivers deduct business mileage?

Qualifying business vehicle use may support a deduction under the applicable rules. Keep mileage and expense records; personal driving is separate, and not every trip qualifies.

How does self-employment tax work?

Self-employment tax generally covers Social Security and Medicare taxes on qualifying net self-employment earnings. We review the applicable calculation alongside your employment income and other filing information.

What if I use multiple gig platforms?

Bring earnings summaries and payment and fee records from every platform. We review them together to identify income, reconcile documents, and avoid counting the same payments twice.

Do I need quarterly estimated tax payments?

You may, depending on your expected tax, withholding, payments, and circumstances. We review your records and discuss whether estimated payments or withholding adjustments may be appropriate.

What if my business records are incomplete?

Tell us early. We can explain the records needed and identify gaps before quoting the work. Bookkeeping reconstruction or specialized support may require separate arrangements; unsupported expenses are not assumed deductible.

Is everything completed virtually?

Appointments are virtual, with document collection instructions and return review provided as part of your preparation process. Do not send taxpayer identification numbers or tax documents through public contact forms.

How is the preparation fee determined?

You receive a personalized quote based on income sources, business activities, forms, record completeness, vehicle records, and state filing requirements. State preparation and additional forms are quoted separately. Approve the full price before preparation begins; no fixed mixed-income starting fee is advertised.

Your Income Is Unique. Your Tax Preparation Should Be Too.
